Suzuki Dt25 No Spark

Hoping somebody can give me some advice, my 1985 dt25 recently stopped running. it had previously started and ran well, used it for approx 30 mins and i could feel the engine losing power, as if something electrical was breaking down. then it just dies, but iot was still pumping water fine and still turns over (pull start) checked at the plugs, it has no spark, put an electrical tester on the feed to the cgi coil pack, there is no live to that either, i took the starting coil mechanism off to try and investigate further, once off it is plain to see that somebody has welded the bolt ontop of the shaft! looks like someone has had problems before, i will have to grind the weld & nut off, but after that i dont know what i am looking for. any ideas? ie common fault with sparking mechanism?

Welcome to the forum ..... is this the 2 cyl or the 3 cyl? .....

The engine is a 2 cylinder, i had hoped it may have been a common fault, making it easier to fix
