Just received a new yamaha rectifier/regulator p/n 67F-81960-12-00 thru the local yamaha dealer. He said this was the replacement p/n number for the one that burned up on my engine. That p/n was 67F-81960-10-00.
The problem I have is that the burned up part had 3 green wires connected to a plug that goes to the charging coil plug, a black that goes to engine ground, a red that goes to battery, and a green/white that plugs into a matching wire color. The new part does not have this green/white wire.
Also, the new part heat sink is larger, but the mounting holes are located to match the old part.
What is the green/white wire for?
Did I get the correct replacement part?

When I do a lookup, I get:

Yamaha 67F-81960-10-00 RECTIFIER & REGULATOR can be replaced with Yamaha 67F-81960-11-00 $173.13

Maybe what zzzzz has will show the same thing?

REPLY: The last two lines on the plate (which I assume constitutes the "serial number") are:
F100BET
60C L 1000089

Thank you!

I dont know, I am at home not at work. I will try to find out.
the -10 to -12 shows an enginering design change.
here in the states we only had the F100 in a carbed version and then only from 1999 to 2001.
some of the non US market stuff was a bit different than US market stuff.

Thank you! We were told to get the 12-00 and I guess we should have gotten the 11-00.

Susan- you're not in the US are you ?...my Partsmart shows serial numbers starting with a 67F thru 67G...your serial number and model number indicate a foreign motor which I can't pull up on Yamaha's dealer website nor look up parts for...you'll need to consult a local dealer...sorry...

We pu4rchased motor new in Panama, but it was made wherever Yamahas are made, so where it was sold should make no difference. I assume it was made in Japan. We handle purchasing through our ship to courier service (transparent Miami address) all the time and never have a problem. There are no dealers in Panama who are capable of handling these kinds of things correctly. They order from the USA too.

Can you look on your parts resource and see if there is a diagram and shows the wires? Thank you!

there can and are major differences in Yamaha outboards built for the US market and the rest of the world. there are also differences in other countries markets as well. New Zealand,Australia and Brazil all take different ECU's in various motors.
most are due to fuel or emissins applications in a local reagion.
if I go to the shop to work on my boat today I will look about for any tech bullitens on the F100.
if there was an engineering change it will show up in a tech guide as well as tech bulliten.

I actually have a 2001 F100 in the shop now that I can look at.

wow, I found my class training manual for the F100 X model,1999.
the harness diagram does indeed show a green/white wire coming from the rectifier, however it shows it not being connected to anything and capped with a plug.
so the new part may or may not have the green/white lead.
its not uncommon to have a supercession of parts. the -12 is the supercession of the -10.
