My Suzuki 2004 Model 140 4 stroke with 400 hours leaks oil like a sieve! drains out through the exhaust. Wow thanks for the heads up on the old gas. I put Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer from walmart in my tanks it seem to work ok. Don't know what engine to buy next. $500 ouch! good luck

Hi there, what warrantys are on the Suzuki's in the US. here in Australia its 5 years. Top to toe against against manufacturing defects provided the motor is serviced as per schdule

You're probably going to find the excessive oil leakage is from rings that didn't seat. The old way of breaking in an engine like the 2-stroke doesn't work with the 4-stroke, which HAS to have a few W-O-T runs during the first few hours, otherwise, the oil ring won't seat. Sad lesson to learn on a magnificent piece of machinery.

Mine started and ran fine on year old Chevron. Gas will be two years old when I run it again. I'll let you know how it goes.

Remove the oil filter and replace the base which it is mounted to. This part has cooling water routed through it and corrodes allowing for oil to seep into the exhaust. I had the same issue on my 140 DF Johnson which is made by Suzuiki. I have since started using Salt away to clean out the salt water from the system after each use.
