Hello, can anyone tell me how to tell how many Hours are on a Suzuki 140 4 Stroke. The dealer told me you could tell by the number of beeps the engine makes. Is this true and what to the beeps mean. Thanks:confused:

You need an Owners Manual, sharkbait. Computerized engines are too complex to remember everything.

The Suzi DF70 tells you hours by where the tach reads when you first turn on the ignition but before you start the engine.

Yeah, That's in the Manual, too.

On the DF 140, it is read by the tach meter when you turn the key on and the rev limit lamp flashing.

less than 50 hrs no tach indication or lamp
50 - 500 rpm
60 - 600 rpm
540 hrs - 5400 rpm

550 hrs - 500 rpm, 1 blink on rev limit
560 hrs - 600 rpm, 1 blink
1040 hrs, 5400 rpm, 1 blink

1050 hrs, 500 rpm, 2 blink

hope this helps

Re: Suzuki 140 Hours meter

I have the 2004 Johnson 4-Stroke which is supposed to be the same thing as the Suzuki DF115. How does one check the hours on these? I get no tach indication when I turn the key on and believe I have surpassed the 50 hour time.

Also, the Owner's Manual says nothing at all about this.

Thanks,
Andy

I suggest you install an hour meter. Mine works with the key on. My 2003 Johnson 115 4-stroke has 200 hours by meter. The Johnson's didn't come with all the Suzuki stuff. Good luck.

Thanks I'll look into that since everything seems to go by hours on the boat.
