Yamaha F20 - Break-in with oil mix?

Hello to you all. I'm new to this board (and new to outboard motors) and am making my first post.

I just bought a new F20 4 stroke and already I have questions.
The salesman suggested that I run the engine on a 50:1 gas:eek:il mixture
for the first tank only, just to give a little extra lube for the early part of the break in period.

Is this a good idea? And if so, what kind of oil do you suggest I use?

Thanks a lot!

My opinion is that you would not want to run a gas oil mixture through that carb or injection motor which ever it is.

I wouldn't do that on a 4 stroke, no matter if it's carbed or injected.

You will have oil all over your valves and in other places where it shouldn't be, I think you will make more of a mess than anything. Not to mention that the 2 stroke oil will contaminate your engine oil, which I owuldn't want happening.

I have never heard of anyone doing that in a 4 stroke. Would you do that in your new car of you just bought it, this is just a small inverted car engine.

Thanks for the advice,

The manual agrees with all of you and just says to use straight 87 octane.
I'm a bit bewildered about a yamaha dealer suggesting the oil mix (he actually suggested 30w oil, not 2 stroke oil).
