Hi, I am going over my boat motors just checking all is working okay. I use an Evinrude 50 as my main engine and. I use this little Yamaha 4A 4 hp 2 stroke as a backup. I bought this used with the boat and the Evinrude. I have never had the need to use the Ymaha.
My query is how do I check and see if the cooling is working properly on the Yam. I put the bottom prop end and intakes in a barrel of water to see if it was okay, but the cylinder jacket seems to get too hot. I switched it off rather than damage it. There is no outflo pipe like in the Evinrude so I am not sure that it is getting water to it. I tried muffs but that just makes water come out everywere becuse of the water pressure. So that didn't help.
Any ideas how, other than waiting on it seizing - can I check the cooling?
Thanks in advance.
