Ray and Rodbolt thanks for your help on the yamaha. Though I would share what was found after the heads were taken off. The head cover gasket on the port side had a hole in it letting water bypass the thermostat. The star side had a partially plugged drain hole the reason it was hot. I noticed the cylinders on the cold side has some scatches on them. Was this caused from it runnimg cold on that side,the hot was ok. Thanks Mike

Scratchs are normally from one of two sources. Debris or foriegn matter in the cylinder or light siezure of the piston,
