Re: 1984 0r 85 yamaha 200 v6 oil injection problem
ok, the 84-85 was somewhat different in operation. how that system works.
the remote tank refils the engine tank as the oil is consumed from the engine tank.
the transfer pump is a 12v pump.
12+ is always applied to the pump on the brown pump wire anytime the key is on, just behind the 10 pin engine harness connector the brown from the pump changes(spliced) to the key on yellow wire. the pump operating current is controled by the oil control module by signals from the remote tank switch and the engine tank switch.
as long as the ECU sees there is sufficient oil in the remote tank oil control is by the switch in engine tank.
out of memory I wont go on the wire colores on the engine sswitch. operation is as follows.
its a magnetic reed type switch. 3 position.
as the oil level drops sw2 closes and sets a ground for the oil control module to turn the transfer pump on by taking the remote tank blue wire to ground. as the level rises sw1 closes setting a ground signal to the module to turn off the transfer pump.
if oil transfer fails to occur sw3 sets a ground and the alarm is triggered, speed reduction is initiated and a visual indicate is set. on your engine you can toggle the transfer pump manually on and off as well as set/test the alarm with a jumper lead. black is ground for all engine tank functions. from there by using a jumper to "act" as a switch you can turn the pump on and off as well as sound the alarm. just remember once "on" the pump has to be turned "off". v6 motors after 95 require the engine to be running for transfer to occure, other than an initial fill situation.
the oil tank controls are quite simple just remember there are several things going on at once and the control module needs specific inputs to make a correct output.
