Could anyone comment on the 3 cyl pro 50 vs a 2 cyl 55 hp Yamaha? How much diffrence will I see in the way they run? Will the 3 cyl be much smoother? How about tourque and top end or fuel consumpiton?

Why do I think the 55 is an odd ball motor?

I think you will find the 3 cylinder to out perform it in every catergory. The 55 was a price motor that did not have all of the standard features of the Pro 50.

Thanks for the reply, This is going on a 13 whaler (yes I know it is over powered) but, the 55 was supper clean and a great buy so we picked it up tonight. I'll see if we regret the 2 cyl.

The 55hp yamaha (you are talking about the hammerhead ones??? like I call it) they are "never say die" motors, great on fuel and good runners, I have an early 80's 55hp and it still runs as you can't believe, great motor! The 50hp 3 cyl is what I race with they are very good and durable but heavy on fuel ..... performance unlike anyother brand 50hp .... but you won't be unhappy with the 55hp ... enjoy
