Good-Day to all...
Today I took out the boat and wanted to try my Suzuki DT40 2 stroke engine...I placed the engine in a barrel filled with water and it started great but a few minutes later I got an over heating alarm problem...that's when I noticed that no water was being pumped in the engine since the out-take wasn't spilling water out...I'm new to outboard engines so would need some help on what the problem might be...I might be doing something wrong but I'm not sure...any help will be appreciated.
Thanking you in advance
Gino...

Re: Suzuki DT40 water pump trouble

was the barrel full enough to cover the cavitation plate by at least 2 inches?

Re: Suzuki DT40 water pump trouble

If by cavitation plate you mean were the water intakes are...yes...the engine has two water intakes on the lower unit and one above the prop, and they were all below water level.

Gino...
