OK, this is a little hard to explain 'cuz I don't have the P/Ns or shop manual yet. Just got the motor yesterday. Please help if you can!

Below the mounting bracket, there is another bracket that looks like it is supposed to swing down and latch onto a horizontal bar to lock the motor from tilting and flying up when you put it into reverse.

On our motor there is a vertical metal rod on the front side (toward the bow of the boat)of the lower unit toward the top, that sticks up about 3/4 of an inch.

The rod seems to stick up too high and prevent the tilt locking bracket from swinging far enough down to latch onto the horizontal bar. Is there a way to adjust the vertical metal rod or the tilt locking bracket to get it to latch properly? Obviously the motor is not supposed to tilt up when you put the motor in reverse.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Kev
