I have a 1998 115 Yamaha that I recently purchased that has bad oxidation on the top of the engine cowling. I thought that I could wax or polish it out, but it's not working. Any suggestions? Does Yamaha sell the paint to match?
The only thing I could think of instead of painting it is to get some fine rubbing compound and try rubbing it out.<br /><br />coumpound will slowly remove the top layers of paint. Hopefully you can get the ozidized paint off before getting to the plastic / fiberglass.<br /><br />Hope this helps<br /><br />Kid
yamaha make 2 paint colours for their outboards. 93 and older and 94 and newer (not counting the dark blues). the cowling is fiberglass reinforced treat it like regular fiberglass when reworking it.
