1984 Suzuki DT75 emergency stop switch threads broke. Can the switch be bypassed by connecting a wire between the two wires the current switch is hooked to? Diagrams?

Hi Rbone,
Yes it can be bypassed BUT it has a function. I would suggest you get a replacement once you confirm that it is the problem. I would try gluing the switch in if the thread is broken.
Regards Sir Les Pat

Re: suzuki emer stop switch broke?

Hi Sir Les Pat,

I tried to glue it with crazy glue and Gorilla glue. The threads broke on both attempts. I removed the broken switch and used a wire with leads to bypass. The engine will no longer start. I looked at the schematic and know the wiring is correct. I will buy another switch and see what happens. Maybe the engine not starting is good fortune and is forcing me to follow good safety practices.

The switch circuit is open for run, closed for stop. Try disconnecting one wire and try it.
