1998 Suzuki 9.9 , Throttle/shift control problem

Throttle control runs from ob/motor to control in cockpit. there is a button that you push to engage the prop. Works just fine before engine is started.You can push in and pull out. Once motor is started and you engage prop, it will not disengage. Throttle will move from forward, netural and reverse just fine.This is new to me and I have always had ob motors that you just control from the engine.. IS is supposed to operate this way or Am I doing something wrong? <br />Any ideas? Eagle Mountain Sailer
