Suzuki D70 oil leak

Recently purchased a Suzuki 4 stroke. First trip out the motor developed a substantial oil leak. The oil was leaving the motor at a alarming rate. After one trip of approx. 7 miles, at 5500 rpm the motor was down about 2 qts. I had not shown any sort of leaks while on the trailer in the driveway. The motor is on a 20 ft. pontoon.

check the oil cooling unit behind the oil filter.

That engine does not have an oil cooler. You will just have to pull the side covers off and look around with the engine running. It could be as simple as a loose oil filter.

there are onl;y a few points for oil to leak, then its down to its going out the exhaust.
if no obvious external leaks then a cylinder leakdown test will be next.
