30 hp yamaha 1988 or 1989

I just purchased a 30 hp 1988 or 1989 yamaha. I have had many johnson in the past. It came with the controls. There are two plugs coming out of the shifter box.One has four wires. The other has three. Is this where the wire harness plugs into? Also, There is no gas hook-up, There is no hose running into the inlet inside the motor. Does this connect directly to the gas plug that will connect to the gas line from the tank. Thanks in advance. <br /><br />Carl

the 4 plug harness is the dash supply etc. the 3 plug is tnt. the engine harness is much larger and longer with a large black plug on the end.<br />is it an electric start engine or is a converted pull start with throttle shift moved forward?

I dont have any dash gauges yet. Can I hook the three wire directly to battery? Yellow and red to positive and black to negative?

They are hooked to the battery through the main wiring harness now. Red is hot all of the time. Yellow goes hot with the switch. Black is ground.

The model is 30 eln. That would make it a 1984? It also has the numbers 30ae 689. Where can i purchase the main wiring harness? Are there any gauges that are mandatory to run the motor. And where can I find what gauges are available for this motor?
