Yamaha 4hp - Water Temp Leaving Engine?

After a couple of years of sitting idle, I finally rebuilt the carb and replaced the water pump in my 1991 4hp. The old impeller was disintigrated, and small pieces were everywhere inside the housing.

I cleaned out the housing and installed the new kit, and all went well.

I don't remember the water leaving the engine coming out as hot as it is now. What temperature range should the water be once the motor warms up? My service manual doesn't say, but it should be a pretty standard number. I just want to make sure it's not running way hot. Maybe some of the small rubber pieces were sucked up into the small passageways around the block and are preventing adequate cooling? It has a thermostat, maybe I should check this?

Any suggestions, or does anyone have an answer on my original temp question?

The thermostat is 50*C on that engine.
