1985 Yamaha 8 HP Water pump???

Went to Yamaha site.No help found.We slid the lower unit off.Looks pretty simple but there is a linkage problem.Will not slide back on HELP.<br />Does anyone have docs on the 85 yamaha???Thanks all....

How do you disconnect the shift linkage?

I have the same problem. I do not know how to disconnect the shift linkage so that I may remove the lower end. My email address is donnbou@comcast.net. I would appreciate any help. Thanks
