The engine starts fine, accelerates quickly, goes fast and runs smooth (but not when idling). The compression is exactly the same on all cylinders, but low (each cylinder is 92 to 93). Therefore, I'm not surprised that the idling is a little bit rough.

Here's a wierd one. When I remove the spark plug wire from the top or middle cylinders while the motor is idling, the engine runs a little smoother and the rpms increase slightly.

I had the carbs cleaned and that didn't change anything. Could the timing be off or some other problem?

Is there any reason why all the cylinders on a relatively new engine would all have exactly the same low compression?

Thanks.
