I have a 1999 4-stroke suzuki motor that has 250 hrs. Recently the check engine light started coming on. It beeps once theen pauses a second and beeps 5 more times. can this be caused by a bad impuller? Is there a way to reset the computer, the engine runs great.

Re: Suzuki DF40 Engine Light

If the check engine light is flashig a 1-5 code, it is an exhaust temp sensor failure. The code will reset itself when the sensor is replaced. The reason the engine runs fine is because the engine has a fail-safe mode for any sensor failures. If you are using it in salt water, also have your dealer check the anode located just below the exhaust temp sensor. If that has corroded away, it will accelerate the exhaust temp sensor failure.
