My 4hp '86 Suzuki won't run without some choke, even when warm. Sounds like main jet is clogged, so I took carb apart and main jet pickup had crud at bottom. Cleaned it out, blew it out with compressor, but could not figure out how to remove jet to really clean it out. Anyway, put it back together and ran it, but it still ran the same. So, question is, how do I get the jet out? Or how do I clean out the jet, if it can't be removed? I do have a basket type can of carb cleaner - but I don't know if that would ruin any of the seals in carb. Thanks for any advice.

THe 'dunk' carb cleaner works great, but will trash plastic and rubber. If you can remove the vulnerable parts and tank it, that's the way to go.

The jet you should be searching to clean is the LOW speed jet...its the one that you can adjust with a screw driver.

TMD
