Suzuki Year? Oil/gas? Help!

Hey everyone, I own a Suzuki DT5 # 0501-116293. I was wondering if I could get some assistance as to what year this motor is and also its required oil/gas mixture ratio. I took it out on the harbor. Started fine, ran fine for a couple hundred yards and it just died out. After, it only started an ran for short periods of time and very sporadically. Is this an oil prob, fuel prob, spark prob,etc?. I'm new to the boating world and would appreciate any help!!! thank you. Tom

More than likely its a fuel problem, since it seems to run in short spurts. <br />1. Check that you have plenty of fresh gas and oil (50:1) mix.<br />2. Check tank vent is open and functioning.<br />3. When engine starts to quit try pumping the fuel bulb. If that helps your fuel pump is suspect for a rebuild.<br />4. When engine starts to quit try choking it. If that helps your carb is probably gummed up and needs a rebuild.
