Re: Weight of Vmax 150 Yamaha?

Thanks< I am thinking about changing out my 1986 Merc 115 off of the Party Barge. I Put a big heavy transom to handle large 4 cycl but I may not have the guts to take ole Betsy off. She runs so good, but loud compared to the new stuff. I was comparing weight. That is getting up there. Thanks Again

ob, where did you get that weight from?

My figures are consistant with those advertised by Yamaha in 2002 per their web site and brochure? Each V-Max model has only one shaft length.

That is getting up there.
Hi Ron Davis,
If you want more horsepower than your 1986 Mercury 115 and 4-stroke is no problem you may want to check out the Suzuki DF 140 (140 hp) since it weight only 410 lbs (186 kg) and that is even lighter then any 115 hp 4-stroke, except Mercury 115 EFI that weight 386 lbs (175 kg). The Suzuki DF 140 will not have the brutal force of for example Yamaha 150 2.6L V MAX HPDI but may be enought for your boat and needs?
/Bo

Thanks Guys

Probably will mull this over a while as I am just starting the process of thinking if I really want to do this. I'll look at those choices.

ob, I think Ron was looking for the "V-Max" model.

I'm pretty sure Yamaha only made the four V-max's I listed in 2002. They are each only offered in one shaft length. The other models listed at NADA are non-V-max 150 hp models including their optional shaft lengths. :D
