Causes for high temp alarm sounding

not sure what motor you are dealing with, but I see no way coils would bring in an alarm on any motor

Depending on model it could be an issue with the oil injection system.....or most probably an issue with the water pump, circulation, thermostat....Just don't see how a coil could trigger an alarm. Drop the lower unit and inspect/replace the water pump....check the thermostat

Like the guys above no way.
The high temp alarm could be bad,check it first it may be lying to you.
You should change the water pump impeller every year, after one year the impeller only works 50%.
You should get a IR temp gun so you can get some temps Is she really getting hot..
Remove the thermostat put in hot water and watch it open and close, they usually get stuck open
Check the wire connectors on the alarm..
