Hi

I have the chance of a cheap winter project...
Wee speedboat with what I think is a late 80?s DT65 2 stroke.
The chap is selling it cheap and is not a technical guy but tells me the power trim needs bleeding. He claims or seems to think the vent screw is only accessible by removing the engine ?
Surely not ?
I don?t have any experience with this engine but find it hard to believe. I?m more used to Merc or yamaha.
It?s the silver and blue coloured engine with the big 65 decals at an angle across the hood.
Someone tell me the engine doesn?t have to come off so I can go get it and tinker over the long dark Scottish winter !
Thanks.

Here in the US that color scheme would have been the 1985, it had issues with crank seals so unless you are able to run it around 5k rpm under load during your sea trial, it would be an expensive crank repair. Perhaps the seller is making up a reason the PTT is inoperative but I can't think of a reason to remove the motor to bleed the system. I have a shop manual for that year if you end up buying it and need more information.
