I've got a 2003 DF140 and the oil cooler let go draining the oil and alarming. After I worked out the problem I changed the cooler and oil and it idled OK so I took it for a low rev spin. After about 10 min I got a knocking noise and stopped the motor. Changed the oil which was milky. Still has a knocking noise.

The compression test is ok. Oil is not leaking. Removing spark plugs individually makes no difference. Removed lower case and noise disappeared. I'm thinking a bearing - any ideas which one? Could still be some water in the oil. Could this cause the noise? Any ideas what to try next?

When the oil cooler let go the first time, most likely it damaged the bearings. Water in the oil simply added to that as water does not gave any lubrication properties
