I have a DT 9.9 and just put in a new 15 hp Chinese brand carb on it...it came with a 125 main (for 15 hp) jet when is should have had a 100....i put in a 118 I had and the thing smoked like crazy and got oil in the tank and all over the lower end. So I put the stock main jet and pilot jet in the new carb and made a new gallon of gas with a 100:1 mix (original tank is 75:1).. everything seems fine with the exception that I got to let the extra oil in the upper and lower to work its way out.
Questions:
Would the 118 jet be just way to big to cause a very rich oil mixture or is it to rich to begin with? Used this ratio of 75:1 with old carb and had no issues.
What is the name of the long jet that is inside the tube that the main jet is on the side of..I did not swap these and just want to make sure that is is properly sized. Note that I read the carbs are the same between the 9.9 and 15 hp motors.
