Hi folks,
I have a 2007 Yahama F115 4 stroke (280 hrs. ) running on a 23' Bennington Pontoon. Has always run like a charm. End of last year started slipping - I took prop off and had bushing replaced. The prop was white and knucklehead repair shop painted it black. At any rate, seemed to repair the slipping I'd had. Two days ago took the boat out of the water to wash it down and clean up pontoons. Back in the water same day. Now the RPM's are running high, like way high. I'd never really noticed the RPM rate before but I surely notice it now. I can't even push it to WOT before the gauge is banging the very top register. If I set it at about 3/4 throttle it will start at about 7500 then settle down closer to 6000. I'm worried I'll burn the engine up. It FEELS like it is running fine. If I wasn't watching the RPM gauge go crazy I might not suspect a problem. Thoughts?
