Charging system over voltage

Suzuki 2006 115hp
Normal read 15.1v on fish finder and dash gauge, above 4000 rpm reads 16.3 alarm beeps a 1 code and dash gauge flickers at top limit. Drop rpm to 4000, alarm quits and voltage goes back to lower readings. Does this on regular basis. Any ideas?

Sounds like the voltage regulator has died.

Ncjoel make sure all battery terminals and ground connection are shiny bright clean just a thought hope this helps

My 2004 90 yam was behaving in a similar manner. Replaced regulator and all was good. Yamaha tech I talked to seemed to feel a loose battery connection pooched it. Said to keep all connectors bright and tight always.
