I had an oil leak on the prop seal last year so this spring i pulled the lower unit, installed all new seal and impeller. Of course while i had it off I made sure to clean out all the lady bugs that decided to make it their home. Took the boat out and got an overheat alarm at 3/4-full throttle. Brought back home, ordered the entire impeller kit with housing, wear plate, etc, and new thermostats. Put it all together and while i was putting the muffs on to run it and check for leaks i found that i had put the "strainer" on backwards. Yes, I am indeed that guy!! Hopefully this is the reason for the alarm.

Glad you found the problem and it was an easy fix. Good to let other people learn from your mistakes. Hopefully it helps someone else.
