Gear lube question

I have a 1987 Pro V 150 and I purchased a quart of Yamalube Marine Gearcase Lube HD but when I went to replace my old lube I noticed it was a lot thinner then the old lube is. This was recommended by local marina. I am wondering if the new lube is right for my motor as it is so much thinner then the old lube I put in last year. Any ideas or opinions?

Most likely the old gear lube was regular type oil and the new stuff is semi synthetic. They are the same consistency when they're warm but the semi synthetic doesn't thicken up as much when it's cold.
