Suzuki dt50 gearbox compatibility with other models, dt65 etc

Hi everyone, great site! I have trolled through quite a few old threads but cannot quite find an answer, hence I thought to start a new thread...

I have a 1984 suzuki short shaft DT50 outboard, and I would like to know if the DT65 gearboxes fit the DT50?

I am looking for a new box but DT50s seem hard to find- but I have found an 88 model DT65 box for a good price, hence the question. Only trouble is the box is interstate, so I cannot directly compare etc. By the picture, it looks the same but I realise this does not mean much.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Also you have to determine your exact model by the serial number
