1998 Yamaha 200 6 cylinder overheating issues

No we never opened that cover, but if he has any further issues we know where to look. We ran that thing around the bay of a good 30 min pushing it hard, no over heat the heads of the engine never got so hot you could not put your hand on them and the water out the pee tube was strong and warm to the touch not hot.

Yamaha tell tail will not get hot as it does not circulate through motor before coming out of that , it is just an indicator the water pump is pumping water

That is good information to know, I was wondering why the tell tale was not very warm, On my mercury motor it comes out pretty hot. I will pass that info on to my son, thank you
