I just received my 2016 Suzuki DF9.9B outboard motor, and I want to make absolutely sure that I do not make any installation mistakes when I put this thing on my boat. It's electric start, power tilt, 20'' shaft if that matters. I am an absolute neophyte when it comes to boating, and I want to do this right. Also, it looks like the motor I currently have has a 15'' shaft. I'm putting this on a 13' 7'' boat. Too late to return it though. Return shipping is a nightmare.

Thanks a lot!

possibly you could buy a jack plate that would allow you to lift it up high enough to work

There's ways to raise a motor up to mount them, Iv'e never done it, , 99yam40 jack plate is idea is a great idea,he said possibly though.
Anthony, return the motor for a 15 inch shaft please, buy the time you screw around and buy something to raise the motor which the boat wasn't designed for , screw around installing this bracket, who knows what else etc...,
How much is return shipping? give them the money ,and be done with it.
Do the maintance, and the motor will late a long time.
