We just bought a 2001 pontoon bought with a 50hp 4 stroke Yamaha outboard, just recently serviced oil changed by a mechanic. We took it out the first day we bought it and it ran great! I cleaned it out that night, it sat for a month, and the next time we took it out it won't run at idle, and sounds like it's running rougher but it could be in my head. It starts only when revved up to in neutral slightly, but when brought back to idle it will shut off.
I replaced the fuel filter tonight and tried it but it's still not idling. I can't imagine something drastic happened when we first took it out, as we ended the day just fine with no problems. We did fill up that first day at a bot dock with fuel, but again no issues that day and it's a reliable dock.
