2003 DF 9.9 Lower unit

I am looking at buying a 2003 DF9.9 that needs a lower unit. Well atleast it will need a new housing because it is broken due to corrosion. Well that is the story the seller is telling me. Anyways I was wonder if anyone knows what years and models are inter changeable with this motor. I am assuming shafts can be swapped out if it is long or short shaft. thanks.

I hope your getting a good deal, Used LU are expensive. Sounds like a saltwater motor, corrosion?

How much does a running 9.9 cost? Please be careful.

I passed on the motor. The top end is pristine and starts and runs great. Yes it was used in the salt water but I have never seen a casing crack the way this one has done. I just think he didn't replace the zincs as required. Since it is so new there aren't many used parts for it and it would take about 1K just for the casings and then the labor. Just wasn't worth it.
