Hello fellow boater,

I need help trying to diagnose this issue-- at about 3800 RPMs I cannot get any more power out of my engine...off the ramp yesterday it was getting 4200 no issues-- then after a while I could not give it any more thrust-- past 33700/3800 rpms....I have taken apart the vst tank --gas was perfect-- no water, no sediment-- while I was there I cleaned the filter--no issues there either-- I then visually scanned the canister filter adjacent to the VST tank-- seemed fine with my old eyes...

My mechanic says that once the computer on the engine detects fuel starvation, it will not allow any more fuel till code is reset... any help would be appreciated

Sounds like BS to me, but what do I know.

Monitor fuel pressures to see what is going on

Without plugging the YDIS system in and checking the pressure when it acts up, you are chasing your tail. Oh yeah, that mechanic was full of BS. There is nothing that has to be reset on a Yamaha. Find someone that actually knows what they are talking about. If they don't have the test equipment, walk away.
