Yamaha expert!!! I need help. I have a 99 40 with a leaking driveshaft seal. The parts come as a kit and I don't wanna screw up anything when I try to replace them. Any hints or directions?? You can PM me.
I sure appreciate it.
Thanks,J

which 99/40 do you have?
Always best to post a model # so everyone knows what the motor is.

I believe that drive shaft seal housing is plastic, so getting it out may be a problem or maybe not.
Most try to wedge it out with screw drivers or such, some will drill holes and run screws into it to get something to pry on or grab.
then just replace housing and all.
If you do not have The Yamaha tools to install new ones, then make sure to measure the depth before removing.
A service manual for the motor you are working on is always helpful

I usually do post the info. In fact on when helping on the forums. It's the first thing I ask for.

THANKS!!
From the parts diagrams and the parts in there I figured the double screwy would be the way.
