I am having some trouble adjusting my TPS.

Below are the steps I am following:

1. Inspect connections
2. Backoff the idle adjustment screw to close the flaps
3. Take off both throttle cables
4. Loosen the screws on the TPS
5. Hook up YDS and read voltage...... .58v is what I am reading.
6. My assumption is to try and adjust the actual TPS unit until I get close to .5v - The TPS its self does not move and niether does the voltage.
7. Hook everything back up and tighten all screws
8. Set idle screw until votage read .61v out of the TPS
8. Nothing changed

I have to be doing something wrong in the steps. Seems like I should be adjusting the screw for the throttle cable position, not that actual TPS, because it is stationary.

What is happening is I am not getting over 3200 rpm half the time. It is not coming out of the 4 cylinder mode it has at idle. If I restart the motor a few times it will idle and run just like normal. Maybe is the shift position switch, but don't want to just start throwing parts at it until I get the TPS set correctly and see if that's the problem first.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

thanks
