Steering helmet for a 1990 volvo penta do

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I have a 1990 carver Montego with a volvo penta dp. The protective steering helmet on the outdrive completely snapped off and I need to replace it. I' m not sure how complicated that job is. Can anyone help me out with some much appreciated advise?

the helmet is not "protective". it is the method that mechanically connects the steering from the tiller arm on the one end of the helmet shaft to the outdrive gear box.

you will need to pull the outdrive to get access as well as assess damage. you will need to determine what went awry in addition to replacing the steering helmet and yoke.

now is a good time to perform a u-joint service as well as a bellows service.
