My drive oil drain plug is stripped. I am able to machine a new bolt, but my question in is there enough clearance of bearings, etc to insert a new bolt that is approx. .5 inch longer?. This style of drive has the drain plug right behind the prop. thanks for any help

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,.... Why not grind the end down, or get the Right bolt to replace it,..??

Could grind it down, but still would like to have a magnetic pin on the end. As my new bolt has a few more threads, causes length to increase. Thanks

Follow up - I had a machinist rig up a longer bolt and put the magnetic pin and o-ring on the bolt, and it did work

Why not a heli-coil next time? That's what i did for the dipstick when the threads stripped out
