Bad fuel pump and a rough running motor

I have a 1993 4.3 carbureted motor. The other day the motor started running rough. After replacing plugs, distributor cap, rotor and plug wires it still ran rough. Upon further diagnostics I discovered that the fuel pump was DOA. The motor is still getting some fuel but it must be due to the vacuum of the motor. Will no fuel pressure cause a rough idle? Anybody have a similar experience? Getting a fuel pump today $$$$$!

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... Hook up a remote tank of fresh clean gas to the fuel pump, 'n try it,....

Ya might have a tank problem, the pump can't pump fuel if the tank won't give it up,....

Yeah that's my next step, my other pump was very noisy and got too hot to touch. Put the new pump on but still running rough and smoking like crazy, almost a raw fuel out the exhaust condition.
