2003 8.1L Volvo Exhaust Manifold

looking for torque sequence on a 2003 8.1 L Volvo Penta. Service. Manual says 26 ft/lbs on center bolt and 12 ft/lbs on stud nuts. Each manifold has 4 studs/nuts and 4 bolts. Do they mean center bolt as in all bolts. The Manual does not state plural, just bolt. It is odd that the 4 bolts would be 26 ft/lbs and the 4 stud nuts 12 ft/lbs. Anyone have an opinion

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... Use their torque values for All the bolts, 'n nuts, startin' at the center, 'n workin' outwards,....

Each exhaust port has one stud with a nut and one bolt. Anyone have any thoughts as to why the stud nut is 12 ft/lbs and the bolt is 26 ft/lbs. This is what I have the most trouble understanding/accepting

Ayuh,.... Exhaust manifold castin's are so massive, it makes 'em extremely rigid,.....

Many only use 4 bolts/ studs,.... Most Mercs,...

You could probably throw the nuts away, without any issue,...
The nuts just keep the threads clear on yer guide studs, 'n the bolts hold the castin' in place,....
