I finished my epic job of replacing the trim sender on my Volvo SX drive . Not really finished it, but ready to install the pivot and drive back on. I read a post where Don S. could do these in an hour. It took me that long just to see the wire with a mirror and flashlight. Talk about a lousy location. Some said you could just splice the wires on the outside and be okay, but mine were cut to short reach. Even after I removed the clip, the rubber grommet would not push out. So I had to remove the drive and the pivot, and the new bellows I put on. Getting the pivot off was tough. Needed a lot of heat to release the yellow locktite they used. I had to buy the 1/2" Allen socket . I was actually afraid to use it because it did not fit the bolts exactly, but that's what the manual said to do. And after my 700lb. rattle gun would not take them out, I used Kroil oil and heat and my breaker bar. Last, but not least are the cheesy wire plugs that you pull out the old ones, and with a special tool install the new wires in your old plug. In my dreams tonight I meet the Engineer who designed this down a dark alley with my special tool ( tire iron ) Dave-R
P.S. I tried to get out of replacing this but the Admiral insisted.
