Need a new 5.7 long block

I just inspected my new to me 2002 240C Reinell, and just like they said the block is cracked. The Engine is a EFI Volvo penta 5.7 GXI and is supposed make 330 H.P. I have found a new G.M. truck block L31-R that makes 290 h.p. It has brass freeze plugs, and I would take all the hardware off my existing block. The long block is about 2 grand. Is this the way to go ? Thanks Dave R.

If I was buying a new crate motor, I would for sure make sure it had Vortec heads on it. OP's current motor is already a Vortec. No sense in downgrading. If the original heads are good, he could get by with a short block and doing a valve job on the current heads.

Also, that summit motor is not a new motor. It is rebuilt.
