Broken trim sensor wires. Sensor still looks new. Worth soldering back together?

My 2000 4.3 SX trim gauge is not working. I removed the sensor to manually turn and noticed the wires are broken about an inch away from the senor. The insulation is fine just the inside wire is broken. Is there any chance the sensor is still good and this is just a re wire? I assume I can test the sensor with a ohm meter.

thanks

Worth a try. The only problem is if water wicked up the wire and got into the sensor.

That is exactly what happened to 5 of mine, but still worth a try with an ohm meter, DonS wrote about the readings you should get, try a "search".

It is a northern CA lake boat. I tested it today and got 600 - 0 ohms so I think it is good enough for now. Thank to all.
