why not take your running 5.7 liter to a machine shop to freshen up vs buying another used motor?

if you have to redo the bores and touch the crank, it would be aprox the same cost to build a 383 stroker at that point which is what your cruiser needs.

the 383 is a 0.030 over +.25" stroke motor. Mercruiser's 6.2 is a 377 stroker which simply does not have the over-bore.

basically for a boat, its big-block power out of the small block.

the crank is about $300, so if you need to machine your current crank, for any reason, a stroker build is cheep upgrade.
