Aq151, New head gasket and bolts, confused about torque.

Replacing the head gasket and bolts on a aq151a, the Volvo manual says
20nm - 40nm then 120 degrees.

The instructions that came with the new head bolts say;
20nm-40nm-60nm,
then loosen 90 degrees,
60nm then 90 degrees.

Do they differ in specs cause of the bolts are new?

I know you are probably already done with this project.

But anyway I would go with the instructions from the bolts. Often times they learn new things over time and change the procedures. They may also change the heat treating of the bolts which will have an impact on how they stretch and should be torqued.

hi, thanks for your reply. i did this a while ago. followed the instructions from the workshop manual.. I feel they got pretty darn thight though
