1989 Baretta trim motor; need help finding suitable replacement

mine is frozen and I dont know where to turn to get one. my mechanic is saying that a direct replacement is more than $500. The local electric shop is saying they wont do it becuase once the seal is broken, it cant be resealed correctly. ebay has a bazillion of the trim motors on there and I dont trust the ebay sales people that say "it will work and is a good cross with my current one, try it"......... yikes, im lost. I included a pic. hope this helps
