difference between Volvo AQ 280 stern leg and volvo AQ 290 out drive single prop

Hi all, Can any one tell me the difference between a AQ280 outdrive (single prop-long hub) and a AQ290 outdrive (single prop-long hub). I am looking at buying one to either do up or use for spares for my AQ280..any issues with swap out of bits/ swapping complete drive?

The 280 and 290 a quite a bit different. They have different transom shields, tilt and trim are totally different. Depending on the vintage, you may be able to swap upper gear boxes, and/lower gear assemblies with proper reshimming. To swap the entire outdrives, you'll need the transom shield for the 290. There may be more differences.
